What is your sports/fitness background?
Growing up I was a pretty active guy, I played as many sports as I could. As I got older my focus was mainly on lacrosse. I played D3 lacrosse for Nuemann University out of Aston Pa. Post college, I started to focus on career, family, and external desires and vices. My physical health was no longer a priority; especially after my first daughter was born. At 36, I needed a change. I was over-weight, had a nice layer of Dad Fat, felt tired all the time, been smoking for 11 years, and worst of all – I had poor self-image and self-esteem.
What are your fitness goals?
As of 2018, my goals for this year are to lose 10 lbs of fat and gain 10 lbs of muscle. I want to focus on health in mind, body and soul.
What do you see as your greatest improvement?
I think my greatest improvement has been my commitment to a Nutritional diet. The workouts are great and intense, but once I implemented simple, small changes into my diet, the results and improvements compounded.
What is your favorite and least favorite workout?
I really like the strength workouts involving the Clean & Jerk or Snatches. Least favorite would have to be anything involving burpees, they just seem to empty my tank every time!
How has your experience at EC Health and Fitness affected your life?
ECHF has made me a better version of myself in all areas of my life. I am more focused and energetic at work, I am more patient and involved with my baby girls, I am more intentional in my everyday decisions and actions, and I find myself to be more goal oriented.
What’s your favorite ECHF memory so far?
I had just joined the gym and had a history of not completing the workouts within the time frames allotted. I don’t recall the workout, but it was kicking my butt! Sue Toth, who I had never met previously, would walk up and support me and pushed me to finish prior to time expiring. During the work out, I just remember my mind telling me “I can’t do this” and I believed it, but Sue was just as persistent as the little voice in my head. I felt so great after completing the workout, not just because I finished but because I wasn’t alone. ECHF is truly a community of Supportive, Friendly, and Inspiring People.
