Archana came to Fitness 4 Everyone with a specific goal…she wanted to be able to move heavy equipment at work without asking for others to help her. Archana is very receptive to feedback and is very coachable. Her form has changed tremendously since she started our program. She is working with heavier weights and really pushes herself. I have really enjoyed watching her become confident in her movement. Archana shared with me that she reached her goal and no longer has to ask for help moving the heavy equipment at work! I’m very proud of all of her accomplishments-keep up the hard work, Archana! ~Coach Mary
What is your sports/fitness background?
I have a very limited background in fitness. I’ve done cardio on and off for a few years. I do, however, enjoy hiking with my husband, Prudhvi. We have hiked short to moderate distance trails on six continents.
What are your fitness goals?
My major goals are to build endurance, develop arm strength and maintain a healthy weight.
What do you see as your greatest improvement?
When I first started at ECHF, I could barely lift 5 lb dumbbells. I still have a very long way to go, but I have progressed to 15 lbs. Recently, I was able to do a dumbbell death march with 20 lbs in each arm, which felt very rewarding.
What is your favorite and least favorite workout?
My favorite workouts are Coach Mary’s Fat Burning and Core related workouts. I am left feeling euphoric after each intense session. My weakness lies in my arms so upper body workouts are my least favorite. I also find seal walks and inchworms to be abhorrent and intolerable.
How has your experience at EC Health and Fitness affected your life?
I’ve definitely become stronger. At work I routinely use heavy chemical containers and tool fixtures. Previously, I would ask my colleagues to help me lift and carry them, but of late I’ve been doing it on my own, and with relative ease. Additionally, after completing the 21 Day Sugar Detox with Jamie I’ve noticeably reined in my consumption of sugar and refined carbs. My previous forays into exercising have been fitful and unsustainable because of boredom and monotony. However in Bootcamp, every day is different and so the monotony has been replaced by energy, vigor and enthusiasm. Sometimes I am beset with aches and pains from working out parts of my body which have been quietly resting due to years of inactivity, but as my husband says: they are “good” pains. I am surprised and thrilled to have made fitness a part of my lifestyle.
What’s your favorite ECHF memory so far?
My favorite memory is Coach Mary running with me during the last few laps of a 400m run. I am still improving upon my endurance and so I’m slower than most of my partners in crime in Bootcamp. I was super motivated by her gesture, so much so that running has become one of my favorite exercises.
