Rolling (or self-myofascial release) is a great addition to your regular workout routine. There are so many health benefits to rolling, one being that it can help reduce the occurrence of injuries. Having a regular rolling routine can increase your mobility and increased mobility will help you in your workouts as your range of motion (ROM) will be increased, therefore your movement will be more efficient! Who doesn’t want that ?!?! Another plus is increased blood flow throughout the body which will help with circulation. Rolling can also decrease recovery time between workouts.
When should you roll, before or after your workout ? How about both !! Rolling before your workout will bring blood flow to the muscles, warming them up and preparing them for what’s about to happen and rolling after allows fresh oxygen and nutrients to reach those hard worked muscles.
