You’re busy. You have a job, a family, and things that you need to get done every day. You’re tired and stressed. You haven’t been sleeping the best. You want to take a nap around 2pm every day. You feel sluggish. Your clothes are tighter and you just aren’t feeling that good about the person you see in the mirror.

Any of this sound familiar?

We have a tendency to let everything take over and completely ignore the most important aspect of our lives and our ability to function.

You have to take care of yourself FIRST if you want to be successful at in your family life or at work.

If you are not at 100% how do you expect to give 100% to work and family?

Your bucket of water only holds so much. If you never take time to fill it up, you will run dry. That is not a good place to be.

The great part about focusing on yourself and making fitness and nutrition a priority….. It not only fills the bucket….but it gives you a bigger bucket to work with!

You get more of what you need to be the best you that you can possibly be.

Here are some of the busiest people I know. They have families and they have demanding jobs, yet they have made a deliberate decision to make themselves a priority. I think they are all glad they did.

Dimitri T., CEO, Epitiro Inc.

Since starting Crossfit I’ve experienced significant changes that have benefit my work life.  I’ve all but eliminated lower back pain and sciatic nerve pain experienced during my commute to and from work, from sitting for long durations in front of the computer screen, and from long business flights.  I’ve also been sleeping better and feel less stressed which has improved my performance and productivity at work.

Incorporating a regular fitness routine has always been a priority in my life.  Like lots of folks, I’m a busy person who wears many hats including wife, mother and successful real estate agent.

I have found that by taking care of myself through consistent exercise and sensible eating habits, I am more productive, have better mental clarity, sleep better and am able to perform at a higher level with more energy.  Exercise actually helps to reduce the stress I often feel in a very competitive and fast-paced job.

As I age, I attribute my dedication to exercise as a remedy to keeping my weight consistent and to prevent a wide range of health problems like high blood pressure and heart disease.  Regular exercise makes you healthier, and for me, a healthier life is definitely a happier one!

Michelle L., PhD, Senior Research Sales Specialist for MilliporeSigma

Starting my day out with a workout sets the tone for a better day. The days I don’t workout, I feel like I am just a little bit behind all day. Also, my workout is the time before my head starts going with the days “to dos”. Once I get back home, I am just going on autopilot, so fitting workouts in early guarantees I get “my time”, the calm before the storm.

Being in shape and eating healthy ensures I don’t get sick as often, and when I do, it’s usually short lived. There are less needed days off.  My job is a lot of walking, and for events, carrying a lot of stuff. I never have issues with this part of my job but I watch other folks in my job that are not in shape struggling. The only issue I have is after leg day, taking the steps is more painful. 😉

Jason S, District Business Manager, Johnson and Johnson Vision Card Inc.

I have been working with ECHF for about 18 months now and I cannot day enough about the impact it has made on my day-to-day life.

As someone who travels for work and is constantly on the move, I often found it hard to maintain consistency in my workout, and even harder to see results.  ECHF, through the introduction to Crossfit, nutritional counseling, and excellent trainers coaching me, has helped me find that consistency with my workout. Furthermore, and most importantly, they have helped me realize significant gains in my strength, endurance, and overall energy.  Ultimately, I have found that I am more productive at work, have the energy and stamina to keep up with an active family, and just feel awesome.

ECHF provides a great environment to work towards your fitness goals, and they motivate you all the way through.

Colin P., Group Head Learning and Development, Keller Group PLC

After only a couple of months at ECHF, I’ve noticed I have more energy and endurance.  Where I used to wear down, I find it’s easier to bear down and keep going, regardless of the time of day or the particular challenge at the office.

ECHF is a great way to manage stress – it’s a great release, whether I go first thing in the morning or at the end of the day.  And my sleep has definitely improved – nothing beats a good night’s sleep!

Work-related travel means lots of opportunity to make poor food choices.  All the hard/fun work put in at ECHF makes it easier to resist all the cookies, etc., that are everywhere at meetings and conferences.  I’ve lost weight and my clothes are fitting better.

One of the things I like most about ECHF (vs. the gym) is there’s no waiting for someone to finish reading their email while they’re sitting on the machine you want to use.  You have your work area and away you go! Better workouts in a shorter period of time.

At first I was a bit intimidated by CrossFit.  I was worried about whether I’d be able to keep up.  The people you workout with are at all levels and are always willing to help or offer encouragement.  There’s a “we’re all in this together” spirit which really makes it fun.

Best of all, I just feel so much better physically and about myself.  I still have a long way to go, but there’s no better motivator than good health (and seeing the results in the mirror!)
